ANDREAS FORSTREUTER - A REAL FAMILY MAN !

HI ANDREAS, WHERE DO YOU HAIL FROM?

I was born in 1960 in Krefeld, a city with more than 200,000 inhabitants in Germany near the Rhine River. A neighbouring town of Krefeld is the city of Düsseldorf, with wonderful shopping and the next, very old big city with one of the most beautiful cathedrals of Germany is Cologne 50 km away.

I was employed in various posi-tions,in different cities and different companies at that time. In 1990 I was the responsible manager in account-ing for a large computer company in Aachen. During this time, my eldest son was born. In the following period, I started my first own computer com-pany and moved to Belgium. I love Belgium which is influenced by the German sense of duty and by the French way of life.

In 2006, I met my wife who is Mauritian and was living in Belgium at that time. We have 2 kids together who are now four and six. Four years later we decided to come to Mauritius and to spend our collective future.

We opened the lunch restaurant, "X-KLUSIV" in Port Louis, reactivated the snack in Floréal launched by  my wife over 16 years ago, and I  continued to serve my Internet cus-tomers from Germany and Belgium in Mauritius.

DO YOU WANT TO SHARE SOME FOND CHILDHOOD MEMORIES WITH OUR READERS?

I had an absolute happy childhood to-gether with my brothers and parents, and I am still feeling grateful for the time spent with my parents.

I remember that we got our first TV at the time of the first moon land-ing. That was in 1969, I was nine years old. Seeing my kids who have lots of TV channels, play station and Internet available makes me wonder how we spent those days without getting bored. Fortunately the times are changing.

ARE THERE SOME LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCES THAT MADE  YOU WHO YOU ARE TODAY?

The important experiences for me were surely the births of my children. I was present at all births and I'll al-ways remember the first dinner date with my wife.

And of course our expedition  to Mauritius was also an important decision

SPEAKING OF WHICH, WHAT MADE YOU COME TO MAURITIUS?

My first trip to Mauritius took place in 2009 and were followed by the visits with the family of my wife. When I go to know the country and its people, I started thinking about a possible move to the country.

SO, WHAT DOES YOUR JOB ENTAIL?

After the successful launch of our restaurant and the reactivation of the snacks, I had more time to develop my Internet Company in Mauritius. The first order for the redesign of a web-site of a Mauritian company was for the company of Onirik designs (www.onirikdesigns.com). Some other projects followed.

We offer full service to our customers through the X-KLUISVNET Ltd. We take care of the registration of their domain and the necessary host services on my German servers.

The development of the Internet in Mauritius is very far advanced. The use of Facebook can serve as an example. At approximately 1.2 million inhabitants, there are almost 400,000 Facebook accounts. This is a very high rate. This means that many Mauritians have access to the Internet and use it. Many local companies have not recognized this and therefore they don’t have their own website. Here lies a great potential for my business. I started www.chez.mu this year as an Internet portal with local partners. It offers a cheap home page in addition to a number of information and presentation of their companies on the net.

Other projects will follow in time. My aim in the next few years, is to be-come the leading Internet service provider in Mauritius with investors.

WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT?

I am passionate about my family, and I hope to have more time to be with them.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT LIVING HERE?

I like the climate, relaxing at the beach, the friendliness of the people. I also enjoy the Multilanguage for the education of my children, and also the business options.

HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE HAPPINESS?

My definition of happiness is having breakfast with my wife alone and a glass of champagne on a Sunday morning while watching the kids play-ing in the garden.
