When she was six years old, her parents took her and her brother out of school to travel on a motor yacht around Europe, visiting places like France, Italy, Spain, Greece and Turkey. They got to know the customs and cultures of these places and the trips made such a huge impact on Tyron's life. It was this exposure to the world that led her to her love of travelling and openness to change. Tyron's parents eventually made the move to Mauritius around the same time that she and her brother finished their studies. She also made the move to the island with her new husband Charl in 2009.

Life Lessons and Changes

Her parents provided a solid foundation for Tyron and her brother, instilling in them the ability to make their own decisions and providing them with sound advice and care, even though they sometimes didn't listen and made mistakes.

Tyron hopes that she can be like her parents someday with her own children. Tyron's brother played a part in one of her most life-changing moments – he introduced her to her husband! Although her husband Charl was a long-time friend of her brother, Tyron never met him. However, fate intervened in early 2008 and before long, they became engaged and were married in September 2009 in Positano, Italy. Modelling is a fairly new life pursuit for Tyron, having started last year in 2010. In fact, one of her first experiences was the Sports Illustrated

New Model Search where she made it through to the top 15 finalists her first foray out over hundreds of other applicants! She was highlighted in the June 2010 issue of the magazine. After this first taste of success, Tyron signed on with Full Circle Models in Cape Town, South Africa.

Mauritius – Her New Home

While she must spend time in Cape Town due to her modelling obligations, Mauritius is now home to Tyron and her husband. They moved to the island in 2009 following her parents and stayed for six months but weren't quite ready to settle down permanently. The couple travelled for a while on a super yacht making its way from Europe to the Caribbean. Eventually, they made their way back to Mauritius because they desired a more permanent home base.

Tyron's typical Mauritius day begins at 6:00 a.m. with a trip to the gym with her husband for an hour-long workout to stay in bikini shape. After

a healthy breakfast, they both get ready for their respective days. Tyron checks her mail regarding jobs lined up or casting calls. If casting is on the agenda for the day, she rearranges her schedule to ensure she has everything she needs to arrive early. Shooting days require an early start since hair and makeup can take a while and the shoot itself may take hours. The evenings are relaxing for Tyron. She enjoys cooking dinner and often experiments on new cuisines like Mauritian and Thai food. Tyron unwinds with a movie or a good book and heads to bed by 9:00 p.m. After all, she needs her beauty sleep in order to get back up by 6:00 a.m.!

What Makes Tyron Happy

In addition to Tyron's love of cooking, her passion is painting and drawing. In fact, she studied fine art in Paris, Florence, New York and London. Since her husband is a photographer, they turned one of their guest bedrooms into a studio so they both can indulge in their favourite art pastimes. Tyron is completely happy with her life. She says, "Happiness is a choice. Every morning we can choose to be happy and positive or choose to be negative. People, money, and possessions cannot do this for us, only we can." Her favourite quote by Vincent Millay also reinforces this thought: "I am glad that I paid so little attention to good advice; had I abided by it, I might have been saved from some of my most valuable mistakes." Tyron loves the relaxed pace in Mauritius and feels the residents are very friendly and laid back, enjoying life to the fullest. She and her husband feel at ease and safe. And living on the beach? It has completely changed her lifestyle – for the good, of course! Tyron is enjoying her time as a model and has one request for the residents of her new island home – vote for her in the next Sports Illustrated Model. Search at

With your vote, she could win this year.
