WHERE DOES THIS FRANCHISE COME FROM?

Vida e caffe is a well-known and award winning franchise in South Africa. We were fortunate enough to get the master franchise for the Indian Ocean islands and an opportunity to live in paradise and bring an amazing coffee culture to Mauritius! There are now four vida e caffé outlets in Mauritius – Bagatelle Mall of Mauritius, Grand Baie La Croisette, Grand Baie Business Quarter and London Way, Black River.

WHEN DID THIS AMAZING COFFEE PLACE OPEN ITS DOORS?

Vida e caffé opened its 1st store at Bagatelle in August 2012, so vida is a new brand on the island! We chose Mauritius because we felt that with the growth and development taking place here, the island was ready for the brand and for an exciting up market espresso bar serving great coffee and food in a vibey atmosphere.

HOW DID THE PUBLIC RESPOND TO YOUR PRODUCT?

The vida brand in Mauritius is now 1 year old and showing significant growth among all Mauritian people across the board, male and female. The response has been incredible and there is most certainly a growing coffee culture in Mauritius!

I have my lazy Saturday breakfasts at Vida e Caffe which marks an excellent start of the weekend! The music gets people tapping their feet and the baristas are full of zest and we love giving them tips to hear them chant ‘Obrigado’. Last Saturday the song that got us Happy Feet was ‘Couleur Café by Serge Gainsbourg – Thank you Vida e Caffe! - Shikha (Meia de Leite Fan!) sensory experience, which amplifies the customers experience. You’re sitting in a beautiful store with the smell of fresh coffee and muffins and a backdrop of carefully selected vida music and the operational buzz of the store and our staff. Vida e caffé also offers free wi-fi to all customers and encourages people to use it as their 3rd space of comfort. The stores offer everything as a take away option and can cater for private events too.

WHICH PRODUCTS ARE THE STARS OF THE CAFFÉ?

Our top selling coffee would most certainly be our cappuccino’s, they are incredibly popular and our speciality signature coffee is the meia de leite. This is an espresso shot with steamed milk. The Lindt hot chocolate is another favourite and when topped with extra cream it really is quite decadent! Our quattro (four cheese) and Lindt chocolate muffins are a real taste sensation and we also offer baguettes, panini’s and wraps too! Vida e caffe bakes fresh muffins and pastries in store every day and only serves the freshest food. Anything not sold in a day is collected by various charities around the island.

WHAT IS THE MISSION OF YOUR COMPANY?

The company together with our brand has started a coffee culture that we need to protect and grow – our aim is “to strive to serve the best espresso based coffee, and offer the best atmosphere and food on the planet.”

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?

At vida we strive to achieve a “third space environment” – a space between work and home where people meet and congregate regularly. A warm, welcoming and comfortable space where you can meet, eat and drink and “hang out” – we have free wifi so our shops are highly accessible for those who want to work on their laptops or just facebook a friend as well.

WHAT CAN CUSTOMERS EXPECT IN THE NEAR FUTURE?

Customers in the future can expect more of the same at vida, but only better as we constantly improve with time. We continually strive to develop and improve our customer service excellence because we realize that we have the power to influence and create a good customer experience for all – our friendly competent staff are our brand ambassadors and represent our brand and our vision to the outside world.
