ASHTON KUTCHER TO REPLACE CHARLIE SHEEN ON TWO AND A HALF MEN

Sorry, Charlie - it's Ashton Kutcher who's winning.

The 31-year-old star of "That 70s Show" is close to sealing a big bucks deal to replace Charlie Sheen in "Two and a Half Men," hollywoodreporter.com said Thursday.

CBS, studio Warner Bros. and Kutcher's reps declined to comment but two insiders said a deal is all but signed.

How much Kutcher will get paid to star in TV's No.1 comedy isn't known yet but one of the sources said he's getting a "huge payday," the web site reported.

Hugh Grant reportedly was offered $1 million an episode to step into Sheen's shoes.

When Grant passed, a deal was quickly hammered out with Kutcher, the Twitter-happy husband of Demi Moore.

Sources say "Men" creator Chuck Lorre has crafted a storyline to introduce Kutcher in a way that satisfies the network and studio.

"It's really funny," says one source. "People are going to love it."

This would be the first regular series gig for Kutcher, who has been concentrating on his movie career, since "That 70s Show."

He also executive produced the hit MTV hidden-camera series "Punk'd," among others.

Not only does Kutcher bring a young fan base to the CBS show, but also his 6.7 Twitter followers, a huge promotional boost for the show.

Kutcher isn't commenting, other than a remark on Twitter.

"I'm starting to become convinced that people put my name in articles just to improve their SEO (search engine optimization) or hoping I'll tweet it."

Later, he Tweeted, "What's the square root of 6.25" - which is, of course, 2.5."

Sheen's camp also got involved in the Tweeting.

Rob Patterson, the guitarist who accompanied Sheen on his "Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour after he was dumped from the show, said Kutcher's wrong for the role.

"i don't see (Kutcher) replacing (Sheen). show is based around Charlie's life. Not a dude married to a chick 20 years older then him," Patterson said.
