GHOST MUSICAL HEADED FOR BROADWAY

A musical based on the late Patrick Swayze's 1990 film Ghost is to transfer to Broadway next year.

The show, adapted for the stage by Bruce Joel Rubin from his screenplay, opened in London's West End in June.

The musical features an original score by Eurythmics star Dave Stewart and Grammy winner Glen Ballard.

The Broadway show will begin its run next April after a month of previews at a yet to be announced theatre. Casting will be confirmed at a later date.

The West End production currently stars ex-Coronation Street actor Richard Fleeshman and Canadian actress Caissie Levy.

It tells of a murdered banker who tries to communicate with his girlfriend from the afterlife through an eccentric psychic.

The film was nominated for five Oscars, with Rubin winning one and Whoopi Goldberg picking up another for best supporting actress.

The film's memorable love scene at a potter's wheel was famously performed to The Righteous Brothers' Unchained Melody, which also features in the stage production.
