The reception from the gate-man was nice as he touched his heart to salute us. This warm Balinese touch pervaded our stay through the architecture, staff, food and furniture. Our check in was made smoothly with a very well versed front

office operator. We took the lift down and walked past the saline and pool taking in the beauty of the resort. And there it was, our Beach front Spa Suite. We have resided in presi-dential suites before but the Spa Suite had a wooden and natural cosy feel to it. The furniture was different from the standard furniture Maurit-ian hotels provide as they were all carefully selected from Bali. In front of our room we had a magnificent view over the sea and our private pool greeted us by the balcony with 2 sun beds promising relaxation and privacy.

The luxurious bathroom had a big shower with a showering head simu-lating rain once opened and a tub to-tally made of grey stone stood by it. Wide shutters completed this picture perfect zen bathroom and when we later opened them, we were able to enjoy a bath while looking at the Mauritian clear blue sky. We were quite surprised that there were no traditional towel swans awaiting us, little did we know that it was all part of the magic of Angsana – the gifts and surprises! After booking time slots for our complimentary massages, we made our way towards the main restaurant for our first dinner at the resort. Being both such great food lovers, we kept our expectations as low as possible in order to avoid any disappointment. We had a set menu to choose from and we ordered some seafood and soup as entrée and we felt this en-thralling warmth of happiness infuse us as our taste buds fell in love with the intricate new taste we were
both discovering. The chef had mastered fusion cuisine. The little extra tou-ches such as the amuse bouches and sherbert were amazing. The dessert crowned the whole meal very nicely as did our second night surprise din-ner. We had a unique menu and were treated like Kings with a special can-dle lit dinner in a private kiosk with cocktails and our very own waiter.  The meal was tasteful and we had an unforgettable food experience.

The duty manager came to our table to congratulate us during our royal dinner and this nice touch acted as a prelude to the next surprise. As we opened the door to our room after dinner, we were welcomed by can-dles paving our way to the bathroom. The decorative love swans were there and a romantic bubble bath with red rose petals was made for us. The music playing was classical music. This thoughtful touch made us fall in love with Angsana. By the next day, waiters were call-ing us by our names, chatting around with us and we did start feeling royal. The boat house activity we did was the pedal boat. We pedalled into the sea and enjoyed the view of Port Chambly and the mountains. We also contemplated pedalling to Intercon-tinental but lazing around and taking in the view of the coastline was ful-filling enough. Stretching on our sun beds by the pool was utterly relaxing and our private pool was gorgeous. Another pampering moment was at the spa.

Welcoming incense scents char-acterised the spa and our hostess’s charm was contagious. After listen-ing to us, she suggested the most ap-propriate massages for each one of us and called our therapist who con-ducted us to our designated couple massage room. Within a few minutes into the dream massage, my partner was in the land of nod! My Javanese massage was done by a Thai girl  and she was able to restore all the sore muscles, I felt alive again! We reluctantly left the spa but went back the next day for a swim in the heated Jacuzzi with various massaging jets! All good things come to an end but as we look back, our honeymoon at Angsana was magical. We left with the flip flops as tokens given to us and a fabric sand-filled star fish re-minding us of our enchanting mo-ment within the resort. We definitely left rejuvenated and pampered!
