THE RESORT PAR EXCELLENCE
Turtle Bay is permeated with a strong historical background which gives character to the hotels which overlook the bay. The Maritim Resort & Spa Mauritius is one of the most impressive resorts we have visited for it combines historical richness with natural beauty and service par excellence. The 25 hectares on which the resort is situated are made up of lush tropical gardens through which a river with cascades flows and eventually joins into the sea. Imagine walking along the beach at sunset and witnessing nature at its best. The natural surroundings itself are enough to fill your hearts with happiness and the ruins which are now part of the historical monuments of the island add a hint of nostalgia to this spectacular background.
The Room
The hotel itself boasts 215 luxurious ocean facing rooms, suites and a villa. The room which we were in was spacious, comfortable and every now and then we were being visited by room service bringing in evening snacks and fruit platters or again asking to replenish towels or water. The balcony gives onto a picture perfect sea view with coconut trees and a huge expanse of golf grass. You can also choose to refresh yourself with either a bath or a shower and free wifi is offered all around the hotel.
Dining
Guests are able to choose between five restaurants for dining purposes. The main one is called the Belle Vue and offers themed open buffet. You can also opt for a sumptuous fine dining experience at the Chateau Mon Desir which overlooks the ruins of a once arsenal and gives onto a magnificent view of the river joining into the sea. You can also opt for Asian Cuisine which will tantalise your palate or dine with your feet buried in the sand at La Maree restaurant.
The Spa
The Maritim Tropical Flower Spa was awarded ‘World Luxury Spa 2016’ and you will see why as soon as you enter the Spa which is set on 3500 sq. M and boasts an array of massages and therapies including Ayurvedic, Balinese, Mauritian to name a few. The main areas consists of a relaxation pool with 2 wet niches, sauna and steam rooms, which will give you a rejuvenating detox experience on a lazy relaxing day. The treatments are offered to Mauritians with a 40% discount. That along with spa parties and luxurious settings are enough to make you rethink your pamper list. The spa is undeniably the best we have visited so far on the island.
Activities
Romance can be at its best with horseriding by the beach at sunset as one of the activities in which you can participate at Maritim. That along with Stand Up paddle along the river all around the hotel will lift your spirits. During our exploration of the hotel, we stumbled upon the horse stable housing some of the most beautiful horses on the island, along with giant tortoises and a petting farm. You can also enjoy flying around Turtle Bay in a boat. The list of activities provided is an impressive one and you can easily understand how some repeaters come spend a whole month at Maritim. Impressive is the word that best describes our stay at Maritim. We will surely visit again and would like to give our readers a strong recommendation for this abode of relaxation, beauty and serenity. We understand why the resort has repeating clients who have symbolically planted a tree on the premises of the hotel as it does give you a feeling of being privileged. -By Shikha
