Find in Mauritius

The shrine of Pere Laval is at Sainte Croix.  Pere Laval arrived in Mauritius in the year 1841, as a missionary and helped the sick and the poor.  He died 1864 and was beatified in 1979. His tomb has become an object of pilgrimage from the 8^th till the 9^th of September every year.  People believe that he had healing powers and they venerate him for his good deeds.
