Who would have thought there would be a time when Bollywood stars would be hosting TV shows and a TV show in all its glory would carve its path all the way to the big screen? Yes, the time has come now. With actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar hosting TV shows, popular serial 'Khichdi' is a full fledged feature film now.
A film adaptation is not an easy task. If the earlier work was a success, it's not certain that its adaptation will follow suit. Also, it brings with expectations and comparisons aplenty.
So does KHICHDI- THE MOVIE live up to its expectations? You bet it does. It's a complete laugh riot.
Hansa's (Supriya Pathak) brother Himanshu (J.D.) dreams of having a legendary love story that'll go down in the history books. But there's a slight problem. He hasn't found any girl yet. Also, no one is ready to marry him. Then, his neighbour Parminder (Kirti Kulhari) falls for him, and their marriage is fixed. But how can such a simple love story, with no family objections, no issues between the couple, no sad songs become legendary? So, Himashu's family decides to complicate their love story so that it becomes renowned. Do they succeed eventually, is what ensues.
KHICHDI- THE MOVIE mainly works for its super characterisations. All the characters and their histrionics are similar to the serial. They are totally adorable. The story takes a ludicrous turn at the interval point, but that's not a big deal as the screenplay is laden with uproarious moments. The comedy is completely clean without any double-meaning dialogues. source:http://www.glamsham.com
