Someone told me recently that Happiness is the ability to remain at peace amidst a stressful environment. I agree but until I acquire such wisdom, I will relentlessly look for places wherein you can just drop your worries at the main gate and truly escape into a moment of relaxation and self indulgence.

Iwas very happy to finally visit LUX* Grand Gaube last month. Grand Gaube itself is a forgotten coastal area in the north of the island which is ideal to drop off the face of our small planet and even smaller island. Well let’s see how and why.

If you are in constant search of palatable pleasures or if your taste buds enjoy being pampered, you will be genuinely surprised as your food journey begins at LUX* Grand Gaube. The foie gras dinner we had on the beach at The Kitchen restaurant was sensational. Entrees, mains and desserts turned into a delectable experience which words are failing to describe. The seafood menu looked enticing as well. The Cafe LUX* uses its own blend of coffee beans for an A-grade coffee. The baristas will welcome you to a nice variety of Lattes and iced coffees which are amongst the best I have sampled on the island. The Beach is another favourite restaurant which boasts views of the northern islands which can be experienced with some nice Mediterranean cuisine. As a tourist though, you will have to make your way to The Banyan restaurant which is hidden away towards the end area of the hotel. Banyan trees surround this restaurant which offers Mauritian street food. I hope you’re not full after all this food talk because there’s more! How about some home-made ice-cream by the beach in between your tanning sessions or just because you feel like ice cream. We visited the stand 4 times during our stay and we dare you try the Pineapple and Chilli flavour for a genuine taste of Mauritius.. Enough said, make your booking and tell us all about it.

We’ve been sampling hotels out for our readers for years now and let me tell you, it’s getting hard to impress us. However LUX* Grand Gaube’s honeymoon suite was unique in its design. The fact that the bathroom was elevated in an open space behind the bed reminded me of the slopy medieval streets with stairs. You’ll see what I mean when you pay a visit. The view from the balcony gives onto the sea and you might want to hit some waves with the kite surfers. Grand Gaube has got the right amount of winds for wind surfing and you will witness lots of fishermen and their boats on the horizon. Our room was well equipped, very clean and we just need to go back soon!

Well we’ve mentioned the surfing but stand up paddles, kayaks and sailing using your own boat are also available at the boat house. You can also go snorkelling or remain dry and enjoy a glass bottom boat trip. Most visitors were soaking up the sun by the beach and by the pool but we wanted to really explore the flora of Grand Gaube so we went over the rocks by the jetty and discovered some crabs and fish. Having this experience amidst a hotel means that they are taking care of the eco system and right through their green promises. You can read all about it during your trip. Well, we hope that LUX* Grand Gaube has conquered your hearts the same way it has conquered ours. Mr. Elvis Follet from the Press & Public Relation team of LUX* Grand Gaube will surely make your trip even more special but it’s not a one off thing as we are writers. The whole team of LUX* smiles to its guests and who wouldn’t? LUX* Grand Gaube is after all the abode of escapism and happiness.

Enjoy your stay!
